Fall is the traditional season for new launches and camera industry is no exception. Both Panasonic and Fujifilm is out with new models at the end of summer. Panasonic launches five new cameras; LX5 is the sequel to the LX3, but the LX5 has a new lens, processor and sensor, and a newly developed Leica lens lens. The optical zoom is extended to 3.8x. In addition, the compact cameras get a dedicated video button and a record HD feature.

Fujifilm also brings new cameras in time for the fall season. FinePix S2800HD is the world’s smallest with 18x zoom, the FinePix F300EXR is packed with features, the FinePix Z800EXR focuses on the design and touch screen, while the FinePix JX280 will convince on price. The renowned manufacturer boasts that this is the world’s smallest 18x zoom. Here you will also 1:14 megapixel sensor and the ability to record HD video in 720p. The lenses are supplied by Fujinon. FinePix S2800HD is available in stores in September or October.

Z800EXR is the design model in this release, and sports a touch screen. In addition to zoom and shoot, you can browse your images on the 3.5 inch screen and the camera includes the latest generation EXR II technology; an intelligent sensor that adjusts to lighting conditions, plus a gyro sensor that will provide sharper images and video clips that can easily be uploaded to the Facebook/YouTube/etc. Z800EXR will be available in stores in September or October.
If you don’t want to pony up for design or random features that you don’t need, another alternative is the FinePix JX280, an affordable camera with 14 megapixels, a 5x optical zoom and a new auto-panorama function. This camera will be available at the same time as the rest of the new batch.
