Rex is the name of a new robotic legs concept that may hopefully let previously paralyzed people walk. For seven years now, researchers from New Zealand have been working on Rex–the robotic legs–and now the product is finally ready for launch, says Engadget. These exquisite robot legs, that immediately makes you think of Robocop and the like, are able to carry a full-grown man.

Appropriately, you move your Rex legs forward using a joystick, and as you can see, Rex is so easy to use that the disabled person (or Robocop wannabe) can use it completely without any external assistance whatsoever.
You might think that this is only a concept model? No, the good news is that this year Rex will go on sale in its home country New Zealand, and the world tour begins next year, 2011. The only downside is the price tag at around $150,000, but if this thing catches on, prices will drop and wheelchairs will be a thing of the past. Awesome.
